What it is: Calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel.

Pro: Immediate and long-term results.

Con: Cannot be used in high-movement areas like the lips.

How long it lasts: 2-3 years. (semi-permanent)

Because of its density, Radiesse is best used on the  smile lines of the cheeks and the nasolabial folds. After being injected, the smooth microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite (a natural substance found in the body) in Radiesse act as a filler, but over the next few months, the microspheres will prompt the skin to produce collagen. Over time, the microspheres will disintegrate, but because of the new collage production, the wrinkle correction will last.

Sculptra is used to restore volume in the cheeks, jaw lines, temples and under the mouth or chin. Multiple treatments are required in most cases and are performed once a month. This product is poly-L-lactic acid that can last up to two years and stimulates collagen production. Your body absorbs this product over a several year period and touch-ups can be done as needed.
